DIRECTING/WRITING
As a female director with a multiracial and multicultural background, I hope I can lend a distinctive viewpoint on the fluidity of storytelling. I am drawn to narratives that explore a rebellious streak, featuring nuanced, flawed, and fiercely individual characters. My passion for actors runs deep, and having coached many for auditions, I understand the importance of creating a safe and explorative environment that encourages them to push their boundaries. I believe this process allows the actor and the role to inform each other, ultimately enabling them to tell the story with a truthful - moment to moment artistic voice that cuts to the core of the human experience.
I have worked on sets of all sizes and have climbed the ranks from every position. As a result, I hold my position as director with the utmost seriousness and unwavering determination. Being half swiss informs my work ethic and efficiency and my black westindian side brings a certain flow, passion and laughter to my sets and collaborations. My goal is to create an environment that inspires and protects not only my actors but also my crew and producers. As the saying goes, it takes a village, and some of my closest friendships have been forged in the trenches of filmmaking.
After writing and directing several shorts and directing 2 episodes of Afro latin travels with Kim haas in Colombia for PBS, I am super proud that my feature film directorial Debut "Love, Bees & Fuckery is now entering the international festival circuit.

As a "shooter" I am often a one-woman army or part of a minimal crew.
A 1-2 camera set up, strategic lights and solid sound recording, facilitate a small footprint, maximum agility and a high quality despite challenging environments.
This comes in handy for corporate events, interviews, Docs, BTS and B-Roll on larger projects, footage for artists and run n' gun mini films for brands and content creation alike.
From high end clients to run 'n gun indie- the adventure of exploring my client’s visions in a creative and cinematic way, travelling and practicing a discovery mindset is one of my favorite things these jobs allow me to explore.
Being a DP’s daughter meant I spent most of my childhood on sets and grip gear doubled up as toys. Although my fascination with all things camera probably was inevitable I only pursued it professionally when I met Cinematographer David Chung, who became my mentor. I learned camera from the ground up and worked under his mentorship for 6 years. I started as a 2nd AC and Data wrangler- then worked my way to 1st AC, Focus Puller and Operator.

Marem Hassler is know for her award winning work, in front and behind the camera. As an actress, director, filmmaker and producer. Her father is a Swiss cinematographer and filmmaker and instilled in her early on, the love for all things cinematic. Her mother English but originally from Trinidad was a dancer and is an artist. She was raised in a creative and multicultural household and speaks five languages fluent. She is known for often picking up the camera herself and shoot on projects. She is the co-founder/owner of Prickly Pears Films and Viscus Films in the US and Tatendrang Films in Switzerland.
She travels the globe with her dog Patty and calls London, Zürich and Los Angeles equally home
